TRIMETAL COIN JAMADILAKHIR 2018 BY NUBEX – ABOUT THE MONTH
The word Jamadilakhir, when translated from its Arabic origin, refers to the end of the ‘dry’ season. Interpretations differ between what constitutes as the ‘dry’ season. Eastern scholars refer to the ‘dry’ in terms of the fact that all water sources are frozen solid, thus implying the end of winter, while western scholars assumed the ‘dry’ part refers to heat, meaning the end of summer. Regardless of the interpretations, we can all agree that it refers to the end of the dry season.
The particular month of Jamadilakhir has no specific occasions or characteristics as far as Islamic practice is concerned. Thus, like any other month within the Hijri calendar, Muslims are encouraged to improve themselves spiritually, increasing their ibadah and encouraged to do more charity when possible.
Historically speaking, the month is tied to two separate events that involve the prophet Muhammad S.A.W.’s trusted circle – the birth of his daughter Fatimah, on the 3rd of Jamadilakhir in the 11th Hijri year, and the passing of one of his closest companions, and the first caliphate, Abu Bakar As Siddiq on the 22nd.
