THE NUBEX 1439H RAMADAN TRIMETAL COIN – ABOUT THE MONTH
Known to Muslims and non-muslims alike as the ‘holy month’ in Islam, Ramadan is considered sacred and spiritually gratifying for many reasons.
Firstly, the practice of fasting from sunrise to sundown, for the entire month, serves as the fourth pillar of Islam. It aims to test the resolve of Muslims, simulating the hardships of the less fortunate who never have enough to eat, yet continue on with their daily responsibilities.
The act is also meant to purify one’s soul – by encouraging the practice of modesty and humility in one’s actions and consumption throughout the month, as well as spurring one to be more charitable and do more good deeds.
Ramadan is also notable for being the month in which the Quran is revealed in its entirety, in particular during one of the odd-numbered nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan – known to most as Lailatul Qadr. It is said that a single prayer performed on this night earns one the pahala equivalent to 1000 months worth of prayers.
